Patches for the ranks in cub scouts: Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, Arrow of Light

Rank up!

The year has been filled with changes already, but the biggest is about to be be upon us. Rank up is a time that is filled with a lot of emotion as we watch our kids grow, they will soon be working on adventures that we all thought we had more time to prepare for. While scary its also a time to celebrate, coming in as cubmaster I have gotten a unique perspective of seeing these scouts surprise and amaze me as they advance through the program.

Although the scouting year is coming to a close there is still a lot for us to look forward to over the next few months. Please stay active looking for updated events we are offering this summer, and like always…

See you on the trail,

Matthew Brown

NEW TIME AND LOCATION

This year we are hosting our Rank up celebration at Butternut Creek Park from 3pm – 6pm on Saturday June 6th. We will begin as normal with a Pack Meeting that will take up the first hour. If you would like to invite additional family to the event please feel free but I would request you let the Cubmaster and or the Committee Chair (Matt / Liz Brown) know so we can plan for enough food. If you would like to invite friends or potential new Scouts it is recommended you let them know the start time for the BBQ and such is 430. This way they wont have to sit through the pack meeting. There are a few areas to which the scouts are welcome to enjoy with a few rules as followed.
Splash Pad: Please have all scouts wear any swim attire underneath their scouting uniform as there is not a great place to change on site.
Bike Park: Similar to the previous pack meeting, a helmet and closed toe shoes are required to ride. All scouts must be under supervision of a parent / Guardian while riding at the park.
Playground: Closed toe shoes are required at all scouting events, Please do not wear crocs or sandals.

Similar to previous years we will be hosting a BBQ Pot luck. The pack will be providing Hamburgers, hot dogs, buns and condiments but we need more to make a successful BBQ. Please use the sign up sheet below to add what you would like to bring.

Summer Camps

Butte Creek

July 11 – 14 2026

LIONS, TIGERS, WOLVES and BEARS! Butte Creek Scout Ranch offers some great fun and opportunities for the scouts to experience the more “Scoutier” activities. Our session will include BB guns, Archery, Campfire activities and Horseback riding. It is still unclear if fishing will be available this year.

Please sync up with Liz Brown for meetup times to carpool into Butte Creek. The entire party must arrive together.

Baldwin

Aug 2 – 7 2026

It has been decided, This year Webelos will be attending CAMP BALDWIN! This is very exciting as the camp program offers some really great adventures some of the younger scouts haven’t had the opportunity to participate in.

Please sync up with Stephen Thaxton for meetup times to carpool into Baldwin. The entire party must arrive together.

While the Hiking Club is officially done for the year, I would love to hear your thoughts on new hike locations, what would make hikes easier to attend and how we can improve the program in general. Remember the more we put into this the better it will become.
